InfoComm, one of the largest professional AV trade shows in North America, returned to the Orange County Convention Center this year, bringing together thousands of professionals to showcase the latest in display tech, production tools, and streaming systems. I attended to explore how these evolving technologies can enhance the post-production support I provide for live events—and to connect with others working in the field.

While most sessions were production-focused, I sat in on “LED Color Calibration – Matching Differing Display Types” and “Remote Production How To’s” to better understand how these workflows impact post-production. The first emphasized color calibration and maintaining visual consistency across various display technologies, which are crucial insights when designing graphics or grading playback content. The second covered AV over IP workflows using NDI and SRT protocols, which enable remote camera control, video switching, streaming, and recording of multiple feeds—including camera ISOs. This is especially valuable as more clients move toward hybrid and remote event setups.

On the show floor, I checked out modular LED panels cut to custom shapes, opening up new creative design possibilities. I also spent time at the Blackmagic Design booth, where I tested DaVinci Resolve hardware control surfaces and learned about updates that let editors start working while media is still being ingested—ideal for fast-paced projects. I wrapped up with a visit to VIZRT’s TriCaster booth, looking at how their live production tools integrate with post workflows.

Events like InfoComm help me stay ahead of the curve—so I can better support my clients with efficient, informed, and dependable post-production, whether on-site or remote.
