In late August 2021, MAKDM provided equipment and creative editorial services for an on-site highlights marketing video edit at the America's Center in downtown St. Louis, Missouri.
This was one of my first new opportunities to safely travel again for an in-person event out of state, since about March of 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic had practically decimated the tourism, live events and convention industry in Florida, and throughout the US over the following year-and-a-half since early 2020.
In the case of this particular event, in the past, the organization has attracted thousands of professionals looking to improve their skills, network, and to share ideas. The event in August was the first time they were joining together again in public since the start of the pandemic.
For this meeting though, as expected, COVID-19 protocols were in place. This was my first time working on-site for this client and also having to edit wearing a face mask (up til now, most of my work during the Pandemic has been via remote editing or work from my own studio).
I enjoyed working alongside this new client team, helping capture the enthusiasm for the event, and as a result the clients were very happy. It was also my first time traveling to Missouri— a bonus was having a hotel right next to the St. Louis Arch!
